Home Town: Gloucester
Born in the Gloucester area; he grew up with a deep-rooted passion for the "Cherry and Whites.

Established himself as a "Gloucester through-and-through" supporter, rarely missing a match in the standing terraces before ever picking up a microphone.

Made his debut as the stadium announcer at Kingsholm for a match against Broughton Park.

Served as the official "Voice of Kingsholm" for an incredible 40-year tenure. His devotion was legendary; during these four decades, he missed only nine home games.

Known affectionately as "Springy," he became a beloved bridge between the players on the pitch and the fans in "The Shed," providing energy and passion through the club's transition from the amateur to the professional era.

Officially retired from his announcing duties following the conclusion of the 2017-18 season. His final game behind the microphone was the classic West Country derby between Gloucester and Bath.

Remained a fixture at the club even in retirement. He transitioned from the announcer’s booth to the stands, continuing to support the team as a Club Member from his seat in the Malvern Tyres Stand.

Passed away peacefully at the age of 78 following a short-term illness.

Gloucester Rugby dedicated their match against Exeter Chiefs to his memory, with a period of silence and a heartfelt tribute in the match-day program to celebrate his lifetime of service.

Which legacy would they have wanted?
