Born and raised in the heart of rugby country

Educated at Central School, where he served as Captain of the 1st XV.

Captained the Gloucestershire Schoolboys and played for the Gloucestershire Public Schools' XV.

Joined the Old Centralians after leaving school, maintaining a lifelong link to the club.

Officially joined Gloucester RFC.

Made his senior 1st XV debut against London Scottish, playing as a replacement prop for George Hastings.

After a final game in the front row against Lydney, he made a permanent and career-defining move to the back row.

Earned praise as the "mainspring" of the Gloucester attack during a victory over Newport.

Established his reputation as an "opportunist" scorer, notably making a "fine solo effort" try against Moseley and a signature dash against Waterloo.

Selected for the Western Counties to face the New Zealand All Blacks at Bristol in front of a record 20,000 spectators.

Represented Gloucestershire in the County Championship semi-final at Twickenham.

Served as the Players’ Representative on the Gloucester RFC Committee, acting as a vital link between the squad and the club leadership.

Featured in Gloucester’s first-ever match against Italian opposition, a 23-3 victory over Milan at Kingsholm.

Scored a try for Gloucestershire in a friendly against the French side Auvergne-Limousin.
Completed his final tour with the club to New Brighton and Sale before retiring at the end of the season.

Passed away peacefully at the age of 88, remembered as one of the last great links to the club’s post-war "Golden Era.
