Ann Short

November 6, 1945 - November 13, 2023
Home Town: Redruth

A loving wife, devoted mother, and the strength behind every moment.

Ann Short was a warm, caring, and spirited woman whose life was defined by love, family, and quiet strength.

Born in Redruth, Cornwall, she later moved to Gloucester where she attended Ribston Hall School. She built a successful career, beginning at NatWest Bank—where she met Terry—and later working in the insurance industry, including time spent in London.

Ann was deeply connected to the Gloucester Rugby community. Alongside Terry, she played an important role in supporting the club and its fans. She was actively involved in the Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity, attending events such as polo matches at Cirencester Park.

She helped develop and support the disabled seating area at Kingsholm, ensuring that fans like Terry could continue to enjoy the game. She also contributed to the club by helping organise and count votes for Player of the Season awards.

Ann was known for her cheeky sense of humour and love of simple pleasures—visiting garden centres, knitting, reading, and watching her favourite TV shows.

After Terry became disabled, Ann became his devoted carer, supporting him every step of the way. Her strength, love, and dedication defined their life together.

After Terry’s passing in 2022, Ann’s life was never quite the same, but her love for him remained constant.

She will be remembered as a kind, loving, and deeply devoted woman who touched the lives of everyone around her.
